How to count what your missed calls cost you

By the Anssay team · 29 Oct 2026 · 3 min read

Most owners know they miss calls. Very few know how many — or what those calls were worth. You can find out in fifteen minutes with your phone's call log and a sheet of paper.

Step 1: Count a normal week

Open the call log on the phone your customers call. Pick the last seven ordinary days — not a festival week, not a week you were away. Count every missed call from a number that isn't already in your contacts as family or staff.

If you also use WhatsApp for business, count the messages that waited more than an hour for a reply. Those are missed too: a customer who waits an hour has often asked someone else.

Step 2: Remove the ones that don't count

Strike out obvious spam and numbers that called back and reached you later. What's left are the customers who tried and gave up.

Step 3: Guess how many would have booked

Not every missed caller was ready to pay. Be conservative: assume one in three would have booked if someone had answered. That's the rule we use in our own value calculator, because it's easy to defend and hard to oversell.

Step 4: Put a rupee value on it

Multiply those bookings by your average booking value, then by about 4.3 weeks to get a month:

missed calls a week × ⅓ × average booking × 4.3 = money missed a month

For example, a clinic that misses 15 calls a week with an average booking of ₹700 is leaving about ₹15,000 a month on the table. Your own numbers will differ — that's the point of counting them.

What to do with the number

Anssay shows this number for you, every day: the bookings it recovered from calls you'd have missed, in rupees, on your Today screen. It's built for businesses that live on appointments — clinics, repair and home services and more.
